Job Description:
Seeking a Payroll Administrator for a Direct Hire
opportunity in the greater Dayton, Ohio area. This person will work
as a member of the Payroll Team and has responsibility for all
phases of Canadian and US payroll administration. The ideal
candidate will have experience in Canadian payroll administration
with additional experience in US payroll processing.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:

- Canada payroll administration – responsible for all
phases of payroll processing outsourced to ADP including managing
vendor relationship, to include:
- Monitor data flow to ADP
- Review and reconcile ADP output reports
- Research and resolve payroll issues
- Establish annual payroll processing schedule
- Manage payroll transactions interface to the general
ledger
- Maintain balance sheet account
reconciliations
- US payroll garnishments administration; interpreting
court orders, establishing deductions, communicating with courts
and employees, processing remittances and maintaining balance sheet
account reconciliation
- Manage returned US payroll direct deposits to include
researching problems, communicating with employees, and maintaining
balance sheet account reconciliation.
- Will manage employee US payroll inquiries received in the
generic payroll email box or on the telephone hot-line and checking
address and location changes to capture state tax
changes
- Responsible for Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting to
include report generation and distribution
- Work closely with Human Resources to manage short term
disability pay adjustments.
- Print and mail hard copy earnings statements for
terminated employees who no longer have access to the payroll
self-service web site
- Manage miscellaneous payroll processing for tuition
reimbursements, bonus awards and merchandise awards to include
gross-up calculations when requested
- Batch and release ACH tax and garnishment payments on the
web site
- Responsible for miscellaneous payroll input to include
pay adjustments for retroactive pay changes and tax profile changes
from state withholding certificates
- Track intern regular hours worked on the Time &
Attendance pay cycle reports
Minimum Requirements:

- Significant experience with Canadian payroll practices,
administration and compliance
- Significant experience with US wage garnishments
administration
- Experience with US payroll general practices,
administration and compliance and working with ADP as a Canadian
payroll service provider
- Experience managing a third party business
relationship
- Working knowledge of Canadian banking procedures and
practices relating to funds transfers and wire
remittances
- Practical experience with Oracle HCM (PeopleSoft) and the
US Payroll module
- Practical query experience using SQL or similar tools to
meet ad hoc reporting requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, Accounting, Finance or other related
Business discipline
- CPP certification or comparable work experience with US
and Canadian payroll processes and practices
- Knowledge of US GAAP revenue recognition rules,
preferably in the software environment
- Experience in ERP accounting environments/systems,
preferably Oracle

- Operational accounting and efficiency; process automation
experience
- Technical and comprehensive knowledge of payroll
processes, calculations, and reporting requirements
- Extensive knowledge of commercial payroll systems,
preferably PeopleSoft
- Project orientation – the ability to participate and
contribute to the success of ad hoc projects while maintaining a
clear focus on day-to-day responsibilities
