Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking
medical reports for completeness. - Organize medical reports for
filing and review charts to ensure all reports and signatures are
present. - Type health information forms, prepare charts for new
admissions, fill out forms, and prepare requests for specific
reports or certificates. - Compile and type statistical reports
such as daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions,
discharges, or length of stay. - File reports into health
information records and record information in logs. - Manage filing
system by filing and retrieving health information records. -
Provide information from health information records after
determining the appropriateness of the request. - Coordinate with
other departments concerning health information records procedures.
Major Worker Characteristics: - Knowledge of health information
technology and regulations governing medical record-keeping. -
Understanding requirements governing the confidentiality of patient
information. - Proficiency in medical terminology. - Skill in using
a word processor and calculator. - Ability to solve problems within
a familiar context, write routine business letters, and proofread
medical reports. - Recognize errors or missing information in
medical records. - Gather, collate, and classify information about
data, people, or things. Minimum Class Qualifications for
Employment: - Experience or coursework in records management. -
Experience or coursework in medical terminology. - Experience or
coursework in typing.
